The University of Illinois at Springfield’s Campus Violence Prevention Plan is designed to comply with applicable federal and state regulations and to provide the policies and procedures to be followed in dealing with issues related to violence on campus.

Campus Police Department
UIS employs a full-time, full service police force to protect and provide assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Officers routinely patrol the campus on bicycles and in cars.

  • Eighteen “Code Blue” emergency telephones are located strategically throughout campus and connect the caller immediately to the police department.
  • Residence Hall Security: Residence halls have top quality security systems, electronic building access, video monitoring of entrances and exits, and full time residence hall directors.

Campus Health Services
Professional health care is provided to all students whether or not they have student health insurance.

Child Care Center
One of the best child care facilities in the community, the campus Child Care Center serves children aged 15 months to 12 years.

Counseling Center
Trained professionals provide confidential services to individuals, couples, families, and groups.

Title IX is a law that requires all educational institutions in the United States receiving federal funding to remove barriers and provide equal opportunity on the basis of sex or gender.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

The University of Illinois Springfield prepares the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report and includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on the Springfield and Peoria Center campuses.
