Student Leadership Summit
Discover the spark that drives your leadership potential at the 2026 Leadership Summit! This engaging experience will help students identify their strengths, explore their passions, and connect their leadership experiences to future career opportunities. Featuring a keynote presentation by Nicki Joiner, participants will gain valuable insight into how leadership skills developed through campus involvement, student organizations, and everyday experiences can translate into professional success.
Through interactive breakout sessions, meaningful discussions, and opportunities to connect with fellow students and campus leaders, participants will gain practical skills, fresh perspectives, and strategies for articulating the leadership competencies employers seek.
Whether you're new to leadership or looking to take your involvement to the next level, this summit will empower you to lead with confidence, authenticity, and purpose while building a strong foundation for your future career.

The virtual Leadership Summit is a self-paced, virtual experience designed to help you grow as a leader — anytime, anywhere. Through engaging video modules, interactive reflection prompts, and personal goal-setting, you’ll explore your leadership style, strengthen your skills, and discover how to lead with purpose. Perfect for students who want a flexible way to develop their leadership potential beyond the summit.
NOTE to RSO: Presidents & Treasurers completing the virtual leadership summit are also required to attend BOTH part 1 and part 2 of the RSO Officer Trainings (detailed below).
Student Organization Officer Training
Part of the RSO Annual Registration process is officer training for the students serving as President and Treasurer. Additional officers are welcome to attend. Space is limited in each session, RSVP in advance. If there are no RSVPs at least 24 hours before, the session will be cancelled.

Event Planning 101: Explore the basics of successful event planning. Timelines, locations, set-ups, logistics and more. RSVP Required
Running an Effective Meeting : Not sure how to run your groups meetings? Never run a meeting before? There are a lot of factors that can impact your organization's success, but regular meetings and communications can significantly improve the strength of your group. This workshop will provide you with some tools and help build your confidence in running your organizations meetings. RSVP Required
Budget Friendly Event Brainstorm: Not sure what your organization can do for events with a limited budget? This workshop will help inspire you and provide you with resources to still put on amazing events for the campus community with little to no costs. RSVP Required
Constitution and Bylaw Review: Need help with your RSO Constitution or Bylaws? Haven't read them in years and not sure what it means? This workshop will help you in reviewing your current documents and provide sample language and work through best practices for your RSO Constitution or Bylaws. RSVP Required
RSO Officer Roundtables: Opportunity for RSO Officers to meet one another, discuss shared experiences and ideas, and learn from one another. Student Life Staff will be present to answer questions and assist, conversation is RSO Officer led.
RSO Advisor Workshop Series 2026–2027
Supporting You as You Support Student Leaders
Advisors play a vital role in the success of Registered Student Organizations at UIS. This workshop series is designed to equip you with tools, updates, and support to help your student leaders thrive. Each session offers timely, practical guidance and a space to connect with other RSO advisors across campus. RSVP is not required, but appreciated.
