The third part of orientation for all first-year students (commuter and living on-campus) will be to attend New Student Welcome. Recent assessment of the Orientation program has found that students that participate in all sessions have higher grade point averages and are more likely to return to UIS in their second year than students that miss/skip sessions.

New Student Welcome begins with check-in at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 12 and continues Saturday, January 13. Plan on being on campus each day. If you will be a commuter student (living at home and commuting to campus) request off and let your family know of this commitment.

Students starting at UIS in January will move in to their on-campus housing assignment on Wednesday, January 10.
