After attending the June or August in-person Orientation, and completing the Online Orientation component, all first-year students (commuter and living on-campus) will attend the third component of their Orientation, the First-Year (Freshmen/women) Welcome. This is the third part of your orientation at UIS. Recent assessment of the Orientation program has found that students that participate in all sessions have higher grade point averages and are more likely to return to UIS in their second year than students that miss/skip sessions.
First-Year Welcome programs begin with check-in on Tuesday, August 22 and continue most of the day Wednesday, August 23, and Thursday, August 24. Plan on being on campus each day. If you will be a commuter student (living at home and commuting to campus) request off and let your family know of this commitment.
If you attended Orientation in June you will move in on Tuesday, August 22. (This information is subject to change)
Schedule
A draft schedule will be available in early Summer.
