Alumni Humanitarian Award

Purpose 

Established in 2001, this honor is bestowed upon alumni of the University of Illinois of each respective University. The award is presented to those alumni who, through their outstanding involvement and dedication, have made a significant contribution of leadership or service which has improved or enriched the lives of others and the welfare of humanity, and whose accomplishments reflect admirably on, or bring honor to, their alma mater.

Distinguished Service Award

Purpose

Established in 1972, this honor has been bestowed upon alumni, faculty, staff or friends of the University of Illinois by the University of Illinois. The honor is given to those individuals who have consistently demonstrated extraordinary commitment, dedication and service to the advancement of the University of Illinois.

Doug Kamholz was a student and later a professor in the early days of Sangamon State University, which later became the University of Illinois Springfield. He visited Community Voices to reminisce about his experience at the university.
