digital scales of justice

Don’t miss our watch party for Dr. Philippa Hardman(link is external)’s Contact North webinar, "The AI Gap: Equity, Access & the Risks of Standing Still(link is external)."

We will watch this outstanding webinar together and have time for discussion afterward.

Webinar description: "An exploration of the risks of non-adoption of AI, including a summary of the debate around the risks of adoption, an introduction to the risks of non-adoption including digital divide and social equity and an exploration of current patterns in adoption. For many people in the world of education, helping to democratise our students’ access to knowledge, skills, employment and wellbeing is a key part of what we do and why we are so committed to our work. In the last year, AI has been hailed by many, including governments, as a golden bullet to help to reduce the digital, education, social and economic divide and bring more equity to the world of education. But is this true? In this engaging and interactive presentation, participants will explore the potential of AI to reduce e digital, education, social and economic divide but also engage with data that suggests that AI is already expanding rather than reducing theses divides. Rather than assuming that AI is a “great leveller”, we need to acknowledge its risks and use it intentionally to ensure that it reduces rather than increases existing divides between rich and poor individuals, schools and countries."
