The following are major site prepation and construction priorities for Library Commons each month.

Excitement is growing at the University of Illinois Springfield as construction is underway on the new Library Commons building. The publicly funded project was made possible by a $42.5 million investment from the State of Illinois.

The PAC Tower 1 elevator was repaired today and is back in service. Unfortunately, Kone was not able to repair the PAC Tower 2 and Brookens library-side elevators, so both remain offline at this time.

We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.

We’re excited to invite you to submit a breakout session proposal for the Student Leadership Summit, taking place on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in the Student Union Ballroom!

This year’s theme is "Written in the Stars: Charting Your Leadership Journey", focused on helping student leaders recognize their unique paths, discover their guiding values, and build meaningful connections that shape their constellation of influence.

Greetings, Campus Community,

The Tower 1 elevator is being taken offline temporarily pending inspection and operational assessment by Kone.

The Tower 3 elevator is open and available for use. The contractor is aware and able to assist as needed.
Please report any issues to facilities@uis.edu. And as always, don't hesitate to reach out with questions.

Thanks to campus and system-level financial support, ITS is in the process of implementing a campus-wide infrastructure refresh as part of our efforts to improve Wi-Fi performance. This is a multi-phase project with an expected projected completion date of August 2025.

During the week of July 28, we will be upgrading WUIS and Cox Child Care Center.

During the transition for each building, laptops, tablets, and phones should automatically switch to the new Wi-Fi after a possible brief interruption in service.
