Dear University Community,
The University and the union representing tenured and tenure-track faculty continue to engage in active negotiations. Today, the parties met for 4.5 hours, working through open issues in good faith. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 9.
Dear University Community,
Negotiations with the union representing tenured and tenure-track faculty are ongoing. Today, the University met with the union for eight hours and reached one tentative agreement on professional development. The University presented multiple package proposals, including on compensation, which remains one of the central issues in negotiations. Salaries make up the largest part of the university income fund budget and significantly impact the University’s financial position.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8.
Dear Campus Community,
Collective bargaining discussions with the union representing tenured and tenure-track faculty are ongoing. Today, the university met with the union for 4 ½ hours, offering several different packages to the union. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7. It is our understanding that some members of the union will continue engaging in a work stoppage.
Good morning,
We are currently looking for staff members who are willing to serve as judges for Springfest.
Springfest is UIS's longest-running tradition. It's an exciting event to close out the end of the year. An event where students come together to compete in fun activities and challenges as a team. Judges help by observing the activities, keeping track of points, and helping make sure the event runs fairly and smoothly.
Dear UIS Community,
We want to provide an update on the continued collective bargaining with the union representing tenured and tenure-track faculty.
The union remains on strike following a three-hour negotiation session with the university on Saturday, April 4, where one tentative agreement was reached. The next session is scheduled for Monday, April 6. It is our understanding that some members of the tenured and tenure-track faculty union will continue to engage in a work stoppage.
National Student Employee Appreciation Week is coming soon - April 13-17
Do you supervise student staff? Would you like them to receive a little token of appreciation the week of April 13th? If so, sign up by sharing the number of student staff in your department.
Dear UIS Community:
The University has been diligent in negotiations with the labor union that represents tenured and tenure-track faculty, and another mediation session is scheduled for this afternoon. We are willing and able to stay at the table as long as possible today to reach an agreement without disruption to our teaching and learning community. The University will continue to offer additional dates and times to meet with the union and is hopeful that the parties can come to an agreement that serves the best interests of our entire university community.

We are often pulled in many different directions when we're thinking of ways to create assignments in our courses. How do we make our assignments more AI-resilient? How can we encourage group work in an online course while ensuring everyone has access to the same document (and how might we keep track of who has contribute what)? What can we do to streamline templatized content so that there is no download and upload process? Answering these questions (and more) can be daunting; one possible solution to address these challenges is the implementation of Google Assignments.
