Pedagogy is the teaching of children, or dependent personalities. Andragogy is the facilitation learning for adults, who are self-directed learners. The Center for Online Learning, Research, and Service (COLRS) Digital Media Studio is located in Brookens 435. COLRS provides support for UIS faculty and staff to develop a wide range of instructional videos, including lightboard videos and green screen work, narrated PowerPoint lectures, audio lectures, and on-campus location filming.

In the Fall of 2010, the Center for Online Learning Research and Service began a new Faculty Research Fellows Program. In Fall 2022, the COLRS fellows program expanded to become the Online, Professional, and Engaged Learning Fellows program, including the Chancellor's Fellow.
