New Employee Orientation

New Employee Orientation is held via Zoom the first Wednesday of each month from 9:00-10:30am. Please contact uishr@uis.edu to register.

We are in a time of change, polarization, and in some states, increased legislative challenges to what and how we teach.  These challenges are leading to ongoing debates within our discipline linked to shifting professional norms and values and the impacts our pedagogical practices in preparing the next generation of public service leaders. 

Hear from an expert in the field of autism on what it’s like to be an autistic student and how educators and students can find common ground in and out of the classroom. Mr. Sweeting is a dynamic speaker who challenges us to question how we approach teaching neurodivergent students using traditional classroom practice. He shares what it’s like to be a college student with autism and how educators can make small changes that yield lasting success for students on the autism spectrum.

The Diversity Center, Volunteer and Civic Engagement Center, and Student Affairs are hosting the annual service for MLK Day to bring the UIS Community together to give back to our community. We have a fun service project planned that has an opportunity for everyone to get involved.
