Each year the University of Illinois Springfield celebrates its many outstanding graduates by holding commencement ceremonies at the Bank of Springfield Center in downtown Springfield, Illinois.

Commencement ceremonies will not take place as scheduled in May due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Diplomas will be mailed, and we are exploring possible alternatives to honor the Class of 2020. You will hear more from UIS leadership in the days and weeks to come. Recent announcements- President Killeen’s announcement and Chancellor Koch’s announcement.

May 9 Graduate Celebration

Our #UIS20 Graduate Celebration was launched at Noon on May 9, featuring special videos, virtual gifts, messages to and from graduates, and lots more, to celebrate our 2020 graduates for Commencement Day.

Our Commencement Committee will continue to plan and prepare for an in-person ceremony for our 2020 graduates at a to-be-determined date later this year. Many of you have told us how important an in-person celebration is, and it is our intention to provide that for you and your loved ones when it’s safe to do so.

Important Information for Graduates

Graduate Salute (the event during which students purchase their cap and gown), scheduled for March 26-28, has been cancelled.  Graduates who have already submitted a cap and gown order for pickup at Graduate Salute can ask that their order be shipped to them (at no charge) or they can request a refund via the Herff Jones Collegiate Regalia Returns website.
