SPRINGFIELD, IL (March 27, 2023) – The UIS Speech and Debate Team completed their competition season by taking part in the Asynchronous Speech Championship, an online speech tournament. Thirty-eight schools participated in this week long competition.

Returning competitor Clark Morgan represented UIS at this tournament. He participated in impromptu speaking, an event that requires the student to construct a five minute speech in less than two minutes. Morgan has been practicing this event all year.

"I am incredibly proud of Clark" says director Timothy Bill. "He has been working on impromptu speaking for quite a while and has gotten quite good at the event. I am excited to see his continued progress next season."

The University of Illinois Springfield Speech and Debate Team is committed to training the next generation of civic leaders, public speakers, and communicators who are passionate about creating change in their communities. The team is open to undergraduate students of any major.
