Shutting Down Skype for Business
ITS will be shutting down the UIS Skype for Business server on December 16, 2022. Microsoft has been migrating Skype for Business functionality to Microsoft Teams and plans to no longer support Skype for Business.
Please note that this has no impact on Skype; Skype for Business is a separate service.
Please reach out to ITS Client Services if you would like additional training on Zoom or MS Teams.
What should I do if:
- I use Skype for Business to Chat with my team? - ITS recommends utilizing with MS Teams or the Zoom Client for chat functionality.
- I still use Skype for Business to host meetings? - ITS provides licensing for all students, faculty and staff to host meetings using either Zoom or MS Teams.
- I still get meetings invites in Skype for Business? - Organizations that still use Skype for Business for meetings should have the ability for you to join the meeting using the Skype for Business web browser client.
