The UIS softball team swept Parkside on Tuesday to remain undefeated at home, securing a dominant 6-0 win in game one behind a complete-game shutout from Rosie Bartletti and pulling off a thrilling 6-5 extra-inning comeback in game two.

GAME ONE | W, 6-0
  • UIS opened the doubleheader with a commanding 6-0 win, powered by Rosie Bartletti's outstanding performance in the circle. Bartletti (W, 7-4) threw a complete-game shutout, striking out nine and allowing just three hits over seven innings.
  • The Prairie Stars took an early lead in the first inning when Malia Bender flied out to left field, allowing Ella Brinkley to score after advancing to third on an error.
  • UIS added two more runs in the fourth inning. Nyla Cooper doubled to right field, driving in Sophie Rivera, and Adi Rumler reached on an error, allowing Cooper to score and making it 3-0.
  • The game was sealed in the sixth when Rumler doubled to left field, scoring Rebecca Neupauer. Brinkley followed with a two-RBI double to center field, bringing home Rumler and Neupauer for the 6-0 win.
GAME TWO | W, 6-5
  • UIS took control early with two runs in the first inning. Malia Bender's sacrifice fly scored Brinkley, and Isabella Wilson came home on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.
  • Parkside responded with a solo home run in the second inning to cut the lead to 2-1.
  • In the fourth, Brinkley singled to center field to score Jacy Watts. Brinkley then stole second, and Rumler scored on a throwing error to give UIS a 4-1 lead.
  • Parkside staged a big rally in the seventh, scoring four runs to take a 5-4 lead.
  • UIS answered in the bottom of the inning when Koral Keehner delivered a clutch pinch-hit single to center, scoring Rosie Bartletti and tying the game at 5-5.
  • Taylor Zawacki took over in the eighth, working through the inning and escaping with a strikeout with a runner on third before settling down to pitch a clean ninth.
  • In the bottom of the ninth, Zawacki led off with a single and eventually scored the winning run on a walk-off single from Jacy Watts.
Up Next
UIS (14-9) will look to keep the momentum going as they resume GLVC play at Southwest Baptist and Rockhurst over the weekend.
