The  UIS softball team will take a break from Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play on Tuesday afternoon as they host the Parkside Rangers for a non-conference doubleheader at the UIS Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., with the second game to follow at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Illinois Springfield (12-9, 2-2 GLVC)
The Prairie Stars are coming off a mixed start to conference play. After dropping both games of a Friday doubleheader to Truman State, UIS bounced back in a big way on Sunday, sweeping Quincy with dominant performances of 20-0 and 7-5.

In the first game against Quincy, the Prairie Stars' offense exploded for 20 runs on 17 hits, highlighted by a pair of home runs and a solid outing from the Rosie Bartletti in the circle. The second game was more competitive, with UIS using timely hitting and clutch pitching to secure the doubleheader sweep.

Ella Brinkley became the program's all-time hits leader during the Quincy series, recording her 187th career hit before the midpoint of her senior season. Rosie Bartletti also reached a milestone over the weekend, surpassing 200 career strikeouts.

Parkside (9-7)
Parkside enters the matchup looking to rebound after dropping a pair of close games to Lincoln last Friday. The Rangers fell 8-7 in the opener and 5-2 in the nightcap. Despite the setbacks, Parkside has shown flashes of strong play this season, including a solid showing at the Blue Bridge Battle in February, where they went 3-1.

Parkside's offense is led by Rylee Baetz batting .365, while its pitching staff has posted a team ERA of 3.32.
