UIS softball faced Missouri S&T on Saturday, dropping the first game 5-1 before bouncing back for a 7-4 win in game two. The Prairie Stars stand at 18-11 overall, 6-4 against conference opponents.

GAME ONE | L, 5-1
  • Rosie Bartletti started in the circle for UIS, keeping the Prairie Stars in the game by holding the Miners scoreless through three innings.
  • Missouri S&T took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a solo home run by Sydney Anderson, her sixth of the season. The Miners then added four runs in the sixth on three hits and a wild pitch.
  • UIS scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth when Taylor Zawacki doubled to bring home Malia Bender, who had also doubled earlier in the inning.
  • Addyson McClure pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing just one hit and preventing further damage. However, UIS struggled to string hits together, ultimately falling 5-1. Bartletti took the loss, dropping to 9-5.
  • Sophie Rivera went 2-for-3, while Taylor Zawacki finished 1-for-2 with an RBI. 
GAME TWO | W, 7-4
  • Missouri S&T struck first in game two, scoring two runs in the opening inning on two hits, a walk, and a stolen base. 
  • UIS answered with four runs on four hits in the second. Taylor Zawacki tripled to score one, and Sophie Rivera followed with a two-run double to give the Prairie Stars a 4-2 lead.
  • UIS added three more runs in the third on four more hits. Koral Keehner drove in two runs, and Rivera drew a bases-loaded walk to extend the lead to 7-2. 
  • The Miners managed an RBI double in the fifth and an RBI single in the seventh, but UIS maintained control to secure the 7-4 victory.
  • Taylor Zawacki went the distance, throwing all seven innings while allowing seven hits, four runs, and striking out four to improve her record to 3-3.
  • Zawacki went 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
  • Sophie Rivera was a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs, including a two-run double. 
  • Rosie Bartletti and Koral Keehner each contributed two hits.
