UIS junior distance runner Madelyn Miller is set to make her first career appearance at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships this Thursday, March 13. Miller will race in the women's 5,000-meter run at 5:15 p.m. CT at the Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. The race will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
Miller earned her spot at nationals with a school-record time of 16:37.46 at the GVSU Big Meet on February 14. Her mark qualified her into the field of 18 for Thursday's final.
She will line up against a competitive field that includes seven returners from last year's championship, including the All-American duo of Tristian Spence (4th) and Emily Schoellkopf (7th) from Adams State. Other returning finalists include Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge from Colorado Mines (9th), Annika Esvelt from Seattle Pacific (10th), Lauren Kiley from Grand Valley State (15th), and Elise Leveel of West Texas A&M (16th).
Miller is coming off an All-GLVC performance at the GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships, where she finished second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:19.44. This indoor season, she became the UIS program record holder in the indoor mile, 3,000-meter, and 5,000-meter races.
The 2025 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships will be part of the NCAA DII Festival, which will also feature championships in swimming, diving, and men's wrestling. Live results will be available throughout the meet through Leone Timing.
