UIS women's basketball sophomore Kayla Rice has been named to the 2024 Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). This prestigious distinction recognizes student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

To qualify for this honor, student-athletes must be at least sophomores in both athletic and academic standing, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, and either compete in 90 percent of their team's games or start in 66 percent.

Rice, who was also an Academic All-GLVC honoree in 2023-24, had an impressive season on the court. She played 886 minutes, scoring 444 points while maintaining a 32.1% field goal percentage. Rice made 70 three-pointers and totaled 81 steals, leading the GLVC in both categories for much of the season. Her outstanding performance earned her a spot on the All-GLVC Second Team.

Rice's exceptional performances have earned her a spot on the Academic All-America ballot. Honorees will be announced on April 16.
