Dear Students, Faculty and Staff —

It’s my pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Linda M. Delene as UIS interim provost/vice chancellor for academic affairs, effective Monday, Jan. 9. Dr. Delene will serve as interim provost/VCAA designate until completion of the formal approval process with the Board of Trustees at its Jan. 26 meeting.

Dr. Delene is a seasoned administrator in higher education with extensive experience at the provost level. In the past five years, she served as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at SUNY Brockport and Belmont Abbey College. She holds a PhD in higher education administration from University of Toledo; an MBA from the University of Hawaii-Honolulu and a bachelor’s degree in political science from University of Michigan. You can read more about her on our UIS Newsroom website.

In her interview process, Dr. Delene was well-supported by all members of the Chancellor’s Cabinet and the Campus Senate Executive Committee. She is an excellent communicator, confident in her leadership approach and is very knowledgeable of contemporary higher education issues.

Dr. Delene will serve as our interim provost until the successful completion of a full, comprehensive search for the next permanent UIS provost. Please join me in welcoming her to the UIS community!
