Forbes has named the University of Illinois Springfield’s human services master’s degree a top online program for 2023. The degree prepares students for management and leadership positions in the growing human and social services fields.

According to Forbes, “Students who want to serve an aging population might enjoy the course offerings and concentrations in the University of Illinois Springfield’s human services master’s program, which heavily focus on older adults’ needs.”

Forbes points out that the program allows students to learn on their own schedule and offers notable courses, such as Psychology of Aging and Introduction to Nonprofit Management. Concentrations are available in child and family studies, nursing home administration, social services administration and gerontology.

The 24-month program requires the completion of a capstone project, involving a comprehensive case study analysis. Students have the flexibility to choose between online, in-person or hybrid learning formats. Notably, the faculty members who teach online are the same individuals who instruct on campus. Additionally, both in-state and nonresident distance learners pay the same tuition fees for fully online courses.
