2024-25 Financial Aid – FAFSA Update
At this time, the FAFSA should be available for students to complete; however, there are some known issues. Visit the 2024-25 FAFSA Issue Alerts website for details on known issues. As a result, UIS has pushed our priority financial aid filing date back to March 15. Please note that you can apply now through the FAFSA, but the application will not be processed until a later date. Students may not make corrections to a submitted FAFSA until it has been processed, expected to occur in March. Visit the UIS Financial Aid website for more information and details.
The US Department of Education missed an important step and did not update the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) formula with the required inflation-related adjustments. The Department of Education announced in late January that they will be making these important updates, and notified schools on January 30 that we would not be receiving FAFSA applications until sometime in the first half of March. Therefore, the timeline for processing applications and providing estimated aid offers to students for 2024-25 year is considerably impacted and delayed.
