The UIS women's soccer team has been ranked 7th in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Coaches' Poll for the fall 2025 season. This preseason poll, determined by the league's head coaches, projects the Prairie Stars to participate in the eight-team GLVC tournament.
The GLVC Coaches' Poll serves as a gauge for preseason expectations within the conference, offering insight into how each program is viewed by its peers ahead of the competitive season.
UIS, which was also ranked 7th in the previous year, aims to make its fourth consecutive appearance in the GLVC tournament. Last season, the Prairie Stars entered the tournament as the 6th seed and concluded their run with a 3-1 defeat against the No. 3 seeded McKendree.
The Prairie Stars will rely on key returning players, including Katelynn Ward, who scored seven goals last season and earned a spot on the All-GLVC Third Team. Other returning contributors include Dani Auble, Kalli Drexler, and Carolyne Mathenia, each bringing valuable offensive experience. The team also welcomes experienced newcomers such as junior college transfers Rachel Riney and Dahlianney Auguste, as well as transfer goalkeeper Gigi Yurevich.
The fall schedule features non-conference matches against Kentucky Wesleyan, West Alabama, and Ohio Dominican. The conference opener is set for Sept. 14 against William Jewell, followed by a homecoming conference game against Quincy on Sept. 19.
The 2025 GLVC preseason poll positions Maryville at the top with 188 points and seven first-place votes, followed closely by Drury with 186 points and seven first-place votes. McKendree rounds out the top three with 162 points, followed by Rockhurst with 155 points in the poll and the final first-place vote. With a competitive season ahead, the Prairie Stars are poised to strive for success within the conference.
