The UIS athletic department is celebrating another great summer of youth sports camps, with hundreds of young athletes taking part in basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, and soccer sessions led by UIS coaches and student-athletes.

From the hardwood to the pitch and the diamond, each camp provided skill development, competitive play, and a fun, encouraging atmosphere for participants of all ages and experience levels.

Head Baseball Coach Chris Rodriguez spoke about the benefits of the UIS baseball camps, which drew strong interest from the local community.
"We're thrilled to lead baseball camps at the University of Illinois Springfield, in a town that's all-in on baseball!" Rodriguez said. "Our camps are committed to teaching the fundamentals, fostering competitiveness, and creating a fun environment where players can improve. We're excited to expand our program, tapping into Springfield's deep baseball roots and storied tradition, dedicated to growing America's pastime."

Soccer camps brought energy and excitement to the pitch, as players honed footwork, passing, and tactical skills in a supportive learning environment. Volleyball and basketball camps filled TRAC with the sounds of drills and scrimmages, while softball camps offered hands-on instruction in pitching, hitting, and defensive play.

The success of the 2025 summer camp season reflects UIS Athletics' ongoing commitment to providing high-quality sports experiences that help develop the next generation of athletes — and build lasting connections between the university and the Springfield community.
