Untold African American Stories

The Sangamon Experience at the University of Illinois Springfield will host an Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau presentation entitled "Untold African American Stories" by Mary Frances.

Mary Frances, documentarian and independent historian, searched institutional and individual collections of photographs depicting the history of black life in Springfield. Untold African American Stories is told through photography and the stories of African American life in Springfield, Illinois. Engage in discussing the past and how it impacts today by attending Untold African American Stories.

This event is free and open to the public.

This event is being produced by the University of Illinois Springfield, Sangamon Experience and Diversity Center, in partnership with Illinois Humanities. The Illinois Humanities Road Scholars Speakers Bureau invites Illinois authors, artists, and educators to share their expertise and enthusiasm with people throughout the state, enabling local nonprofit organizations to present free-admission cultural programs to their communities.
