Artificial Intelligence is changing all aspects of life. University of Illinois Springfield faculty and staff are investigating ways in the university will be able to assist the Springfield Illinois community by preparing students, business leaders, policy development, and legislation related to Artificial Intelligence.
Faculty and staff are working on the development of a proto-type of Artificial Intelligence Lab that will focus on specific qualities related to liberal arts skills. This lab would assist with the development of critical thinking skills, problem-solving, natural-language processing, an expansive foundation in humanistic inquiry, a focus on various forms of writing and historical perspectives. The lab may consist of one or two spaces both on campus and at the Innovate Springfield space in Downtown Springfield. The space would be available for faculty, students, and various business entities to meet and learn more about he uses of AI.
Currently, a campus-wide AI group is meeting to discuss possible uses and review funding sources.
