The application deadline for the Fall 2026 term is August 10, 2026, and for the Spring 2027 term it is December 28, 2026, for most programs. While we encourage application early so they have the best selection of courses, we allow students to begin classes through the first week. Some programs have different application deadlines, so be sure to check your program's webpage for the most accurate information.

UIS offers rolling admissions, which means applications are reviewed and admission decisions are made throughout the year. Your ability to start in a particular term depends on several factors, including:

• Completion of your application
• Review of transfer credits (if applicable)
• Receipt of all required supporting documents
• Finalizing your funding plan

Our Admission team will work closely with you to apply as many of your credits as possible toward a UIS degree. Transfer work must be similar in nature, level, and content to courses at UIS. Credit for transfer courses is either applied as direct equivalents or applied to a degree in a manner determined by the department and college. Learn more about transferring credits.

You can pay your application fee at any time on your Application Status Page.

Visit your Application Status Page to defer your application one time (up to one year). Applicants need to submit the deferral form prior to the start of the term for which they applied in order to avoid reapplication.

Complete an application to UIS. After you’ve submitted your application, contact Admission to discuss transferring your credits.

You must fill out a Non-Degree Declaration Form to continue as a Non-Degree Seeking Student or you must apply for a degree program.

Our admission rules require that an applicant have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. These accrediting agencies typically define a bachelor’s degree in the United States as requiring four years to complete. In reality, it may take longer or shorter to complete a degree, but the amount of work involved must be relatively the same. In the past few years, confusion has arisen as to the equivalence of the three year bachelor’s degree offered in some countries. Some are treated as equivalent to the U.S. bachelor’s degree, while others are not. To make this determination, UIS requires that a course-by-course evaluation be received from a NACES member organization.
