Financial Assistance for International Students
Thank you for your interest in the University of Illinois at Springfield. We are here to assist you through the processes of applying for and receiving financial assistance to fund your education.
University of Illinois Springfield is a publicly funded state institution. Financial assistance available to international students is limited. Undergraduate international students are considered for UIS Merit Scholarships along with domestic students. Graduate students may be able to apply for Graduate Assistantships and Graduate Public Service Internship Program.
We recommend that prospective students investigate possible sources of assistance from outside the university. These may include civic or religious organizations with which the prospective students or their family members may be affiliated, prospective employers that may support the student’s education in exchange for a commitment to work for that employer upon completion of studies, and other businesses and organizations that support international education.
Donor Funded Institutional Scholarships 2024-2025
Students can apply to UIS Institutional Scholarship Application 2024-2025. One application is used to apply for various scholarships- including Global Studies, Music, Visual Arts, Theatre and more. All types of students are eligible to apply including international, online and graduate students. The scholarship application reopened on November 1, 2023, for students interested in scholarship consideration for 2024-2025. The deadline to apply each year is February 15th. Students need their NetID and password for login and application submission.

Although it is not actually financial assistance, students and their families may also wish to participate in the university’s pre-payment plan with University Bursar. Payment options for international payments are also available
UIS Global Students
UIS Global is a joint collaboration between the University of Illinois Springfield and Shorelight. It provides international students with exclusive admissions services, academic and language support, and career growth opportunities.
Global Students can visit UIS Global for more information and updates related to Shorelight. Students enrolling at UIS through UIS Global are billed separately by Shorelight, and financial aid is not handled by the UIS Office of Financial Assistance.
