State of IL MAP Grant (Est) | Minimum Enrollment Requirement: Undergraduate students receiving IL MAP Grant (Est) must be enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours in order to be eligible. This is verified after the financial aid recalculation date. State of IL MAP Grant (Est) is prorated based on credit hours enrolled. Students enrolling in less than 15 credits will receive a prorated amount. Final eligibility is determined on the financial aid recalculation date. MAP grants paid will count towards the student’s maximum MAP Paid Credit Hours, capped at 135 credits. Please note that MAP Grants may only be used toward tuition and mandatory fees. UIS Scholarships | Minimum Enrollment Requirement: Most are based on full-time enrollment. Merit, or academic, scholarships offered and administered through UIS will automatically be credited to your student account. |
Capital Scholars Honors Scholarships | Minimum Enrollment Requirement: Full-time enrollment is generally required; however, the CAP Honors office may pro-rate students in their final semester at UIS if below full-time status. CAP Honors scholarships will automatically be credited to your student account. |
Institutional Scholarships | Minimum Enrollment Requirement: Students receiving Institutional Scholarships must review the eligibility criteria to determine required enrollment status; Varies by scholarship. Eligibility is determined and scholarships disbursed after the financial aid recalculation date. Students must review criteria and Accept the scholarship via Self-Service. |
Outside Scholarships | Minimum Enrollment Requirement: Varies based on the donor. Contact your donor to obtain the minimum enrollment requirement. Unless otherwise specified by the donor, outside scholarships are divided equally between Fall and Spring semesters and will be posted to your student account. If a scholarship check is made payable to the student only, the student must inform the Office of Financial Assistance to ensure the scholarship is correctly reflected in the financial aid offer. Scholarships are considered as countable financial aid. The student can then use the check proceeds according to the donor's wishes. Federal Work-Study (FWS) | Minimum Enrollment Requirement: Six (6) credit hours and is dependent upon demonstrated financial aid need. |
Federal Direct Loans | Minimum Enrollment Requirement: Students must be enrolled in at least a half-time status in order to be eligible for a Direct Loan disbursement. Loan amounts are based upon type of student (undergraduate/graduate), class level and lifetime limits. Visit StudentAid.gov for details.
