Revised Timeline for UIS College Reorganization

Updated December 11, 2020

The Academic Reorganization at UIS is at varying stages of progress.  Some concept papers have progressed into academic reorganization proposals that are working their way through the university governance process.  These units should proceed with submitting and guiding their proposals through the governance process.  Some units are requesting additional time to explore options and to fine tune their shared vision of the future.  Based on feedback from the Senate and in consultation with the Senate Executive Committee, the following timeline is being advanced:

January-February 2021:

Campus Conversations (Jointly Sponsored by Campus Senate and the Provost’s Office). A series of conversations addressing specific proposals as well as addressing questions and concerns about the academic reorganization process at UIS.  The schedule and topics for these conversations will be shared with the UIS community prior to the beginning of the Spring semester.

May 1, 2021:

All units that have not already done so should develop and submit a concept paper to the Academic Reorganization Advisory Committee (ARAC).

June 1, 2021:

All of these units should receive written feedback from ARAC.

September 1, 2021:

Final proposals should be submitted for Levels of Governance review following the steps identified in the appropriate workflow chart.

November 20, 2021:

All proposals have been acted upon by the Campus Senate.

December 3, 2021:

December 3, 2021 is the deadline to submit the campus reorganization plan to BOT for approval.  The reorganization plan must be processed through Levels of Governance for the UI BOT January 2022 meeting agenda.  The January 2022 BOT meeting will likely take place on January 20, 2022, but the deadline to submit those items to the BOT will likely be December 3, 2021.
