UIS has joined Google for Education in an effort to provide the campus with a streamlined way of taking advantage of the many apps available by Google. Working online and in collaboration with others has never been easier! Using your NetID and password, users can access Google Drive and Docs, Calendar, Sites, and more.
As a member of the UIS Community, there are several options available for file sharing and storage. Each tool has its own advantages and disadvantages. Please refer to the following information when trying to decide which tool is right for you, and contact ITS Client Services with questions.
UIS provides two different online, on-demand training services for the campus community.
In collaboration with the Office of Electronic Media, ITS offers webcasting services for campus events and classroom lectures. Events such as graduation, athletics events, festivals, and various workshops/symposiums have been broadcast across the Internet using streaming technology that makes the content available across mobile and computing platforms.
Campus departments wishing to arrange a webcast should contact Cody Pope at 217.206.6803 or cpope6@uis.edu.
Information Technology Services offers equipment loans for academic projects and initiatives. With laptops, MiFis, digital cameras, camcorders, tablet PCs, and video projectors, the UIS community has technology resources available to check out and use for their academic needs.
Included below is a list of the equipment that members of the University community [with approval] may check out from ITS Client Services [lower level of Brookens Library, BRK 180].
Information Technology Services maintains the equipment in the classrooms across campus. The classrooms are technology rich with the tools to support students and faculty in the learning environment.
Canvas is a modern learning management system that supports student-focused teaching and learning at UIS. The robust features of Canvas help to enhance teaching and learning beyond the physical classroom.
For faculty interested in taking attendance in on-campus courses, ITS has developed a web-based application. Faculty can log into the Attendance App and students can swipe their iCards in a card reader to log attendance for each class session. Please submit an Instructional Technology Request Formto request that a card reader be installed in your classroom (see below for a list of classrooms that already have card readers).
