To commemorate Veterans Day, UIS will conduct a Veterans Day Flag Raising. The event will begin with a brief meet and greet with light refreshments at 10:30 a.m. in the UIS Student Union. The United States flag will be raised at 11:00 a.m. on November 11, to commemorate the historic connection of Veterans Day to World War 1 – the day the armistice was signed ending WWI, at the 11^th hour of the 11^th day of the 11^th month.

To help honor our veterans, volunteers will work in teams to attach yellow ribbons on the trees around the campus.  This event is outside and requires walking.  Be sure to dress for the weather.
