WHAT: The University of Illinois Springfield will host a webinar panel discussion and Q&A with faculty experts examining the causes and repercussions of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine titled “Understanding What's Happening and Why.” This virtual Zoom webinar is free and open to the public.

DETAILS: The panel will feature UIS faculty experts Sibel Oktay, associate professor of political science and global studies, and Heather Bailey, professor of history. The guest speaker will be Nik Ford, instructor of political science and international studies at the University of Tampa.

The panel discussion will be moderated by AJ Simmons, research director at the UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership, with an opening message from UIS Interim Chancellor Karen Whitney.

Each panelist will provide comments and answer questions based on their area of expertise to help UIS and our neighboring community understand the conflict.

This webinar is the first in a series of UIS webinars planned on addressing important topics related to the war in Ukraine.
