Spring is a very special time of year as family, friends and the UIS community traditionally gather to congratulate and celebrate the outstanding achievement of students transforming themselves into graduates and alumni. Commencement means “a beginning or start”, and in her monthly State Journal-Register column, Chancellor Susan Koch shares stories of a few exceptional graduates who are “commencing” a new journey.
