The UIS Softball team was able to win both games on Friday by a one-run margin to start the Space Coast Spring Games in Melbourne, Florida. The Prairie Stars improve to 11-7 on the season with the wins.
GAME ONE (W, 1-0)

UIS took the lead in the 1st inning after Malia Bender hit a triple and Isabella Wilson drove her home

Ferris State had two runners in scoring position in the 5th, but Rosie Bartletti was able to pitch out of the jam

The Bulldogs threatened again in the 6th, but UIS was able to get out of it

In the bottom of the 7th Ferris State loaded the bases, but Ella Brinkley was able to turn an amazing double play to end the game to secure the win

Rosie Bartletti pitched a complete game to earn the win, only giving up 4 hits
GAME TWO (W, 2-1)

UIS took the lead in the 2nd inning on aggressive baserunning

Jacy Watts hit a triple which was followed by an Isabella Wilson walk

Wilson proceeded to try and steal second and was caught in a run-down. Watts took home to give the Stars a 1-0 lead

Ferris State tied the game in the 6th on a fielder's choice

Taylor Zawacki hit a triple in the 7th to put UIS in position to win

Rosie Bartletti hit a sacrifice fly to bring her home and give the Stars a 2-1 lead, where the game would end

Zawacki also earned the win in the circle in 2 innings pitched while allowing 0 hits
