The University of Illinois Springfield softball team has just one conference doubleheader this weekend, coming on Saturday in Quincy, Ill. against the Hawks. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.

UIS (19-15, 3-5)

The Prairie Stars had a split weekend of travel and home games as Upper Iowa came to Springfield on Saturday and the Stars had to go to Kirksville on Sunday to play Truman State. With that said, UIS went 1-3, splitting the doubleheader against UIU and losing both to TSU.

UIS dropped game one against Upper Iowa by a score of 3-5. The Peacocks scored in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take a 5-0 lead. The Prairie Stars were able to put three runs on the board in the seventh, but were unable to complete the comeback fully. In game two, UIU jumped ahead in the first inning with two runs. UIS was able to battle back and take the lead in the fourth behind an error by the Peacock pitcher. Ramsey Armstrong hit a two-RBI single to add some insurance as UIS won 5-2.

On Sunday the Prairie Stars had a tough time turning baserunners into runs as they left eight stranded in both losses Sunday. TSU won game one 4-2 and game two 7-2. The Bulldogs held the lead for the majority of each game with UIS scoring in the seventh inning.

UIS is hitting .302 as a team this season while scoring 177 runs. The Stars currently have four players with averages over .350; Ella Brinkley (.409), Isabella Wilson (.391), Ramsey Armstrong (.346), and Malia Bender (.337). Rosie Bartletti and Alexis Carroll both have earned six wins in the circle this year.

Quincy (14-16, 3-3)

Quincy only played on Saturday last weekend against Truman State as their doubleheader against Upper Iowa was rescheduled. The Hawks and Bulldogs played to a split in two tight affairs. QU was able to take game one 2-0 before falling in game two 3-4.

QU is hitting .228 as a team this season while scoring 77 runs. Isabella Shields is the only Hawk over the .300 mark, sitting at .337 with 12 runs scored. The Hawks have a 3.31 ERA as a team and are led by Abbey Hultz in the circle. Hultz is 7-5 in sixteen starts with a 2.30 ERA in 82.1 IP. Kj Weller and Eileen McGinnis both have earned three wins in the circle this year also.
