The UIS softball team hosted Missouri Western for a midweek non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday. The Prairie Stars fell to 23-19 overall after dropping both games.
GAME ONE (L, 7-5)
  • The first run of the day was a single-run shot by MWSU
  • A MWSU scoring rout came in the fifth when they went up 5-0 on two singles and a sacrifice fly
  • UIS rallied in the bottom of the inning to trail 5-4
  • Isabella Wilson's 3-RBI double cleared the bases before she'd go on to score on a single by Adi Rumler
  • The Griffons made it a 7-4 game with a triple in the seventh
  • UIS got to scoring in their last chance as Isabella Wilson plated Ella Brinkley with a single
  • The final out came with the game-tying runs in scoring position for UIS to fall 7-5
  • Ella Brinkley and Isabella Wilson contributed two hits apiece, Wilson had 4 RBIs
  • Rosie Bartletti took the loss, falling to 7-6

GAME TWO (L, 9-0)
  • The second game of the day was quiet to start 
  • The Griffons scored their first three runs in the third inning on a double and a single
  • The rest of the scoring took place in the fourth as MWSU started the inning with a home run. A triple, a sac fly, and an error followed
  • UIS totaled three hits in the game including a double by Taylor Zawacki
  • Alexis Carroll took the loss and fell to 7-5 on the year. She struck out six in three innings before allowing four earned runs
