Ella Brinkley of the UIS Softball team has been selected as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month for March 2024. Brinkley went 33-for-76 (.434) with 24 runs and 7 RBI in 24 games.
The junior totaled nine extra-base hits, which included four doubles, two triples, and three home-runs to go along with thirteen walks for a .522 on base percentage and .658 slugging percentage. Brinkley is featured in the top-10 among GLVC softball players in nine different categories. These include batting average (.424), slugging percentage (.636), on base percentage (.507), OPS (1.143), runs scored (39), hits (50), triples (3), walks (19), and at bats (118).
The UIS softball team went 12-12 in the month of March with a 5-5 record in GLVC play. The month was highlighted by going 7-3 in the Space Coast Spring Games in Florida.
Jimmy John's Athlete of the Month honorees from the 2023-24 year will be under consideration for UIS Male Athlete of the Year and UIS Female Athlete of the Year upon the end of the 2023-24 year of competition. Awards will be announced at the Annual Night of Stars Athletics Banquet on April 29th.
