The University of Illinois Springfield men's golf team is set to compete at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament starting on Sunday in Smithville, Mo.

The tournament, hosted at Paradise Pointe Golf Club again this year, begins with 54 holes of stroke play. A total of 36 holes are slated for Sunday, April 21, followed by 18 holes on Monday, April 22. The individual medalist and GLVC First Team will be named at the end of stroke play.

The top-four teams will then compete in medal/match play to determine the team champion. The semifinals and finals of match play will take place on Tuesday, April 23.

The McKendree Bearcats won the GLVC men's golf title in 2023. The UIS Prairie Stars took 7th in medal/match play, led by then freshman Alex Seibal who made the All-GLVC First Team by finishing in fifth place. All members of the 2023 squad returned to the roster in 2024.

Seibal is one of five GLVC men's golf athletes who was selected as the GLVC Player of the Week this spring. He ranks No. 180 in NCAA DII and No. 21 in the Midwest Region. He's recorded three top-10 finishes this spring, including the first win of his collegiate career at the Lindenwood Invitational in March.

Four GLVC men's golf teams appeared in the latest NCAA DII Midwest Region Rankings: No. 2 Missouri S&T, No. 4 UIndy, No. 8 Missouri-St. Louis, and No. 9 McKendree.

The tournament will be live streamed for free on the GLVC Sports Network (GLVCN). Full coverage with commentary from Tyler Madsen, who was also on the call for this event in 2021, will begin later each morning at approximately 10 AM. Coverage will feature 8 green, as well as tees 9 and 14, among other select shots. Live interviews with the league's 12 head coaches throughout each day of competition will also be featured.

Admission is free for fans that would like to attend in person. A limited number of spectator carts are available to rent on a first-come, first-served basis.

Live scoring will be linked on the UIS men's golf schedule by the start of the first round.
