Emma Garcia says she chose the University of Illinois Springfield for its diversity. “I love learning about other people and cultures as it helps us understand different perspectives and gain a stronger worldview,” she said. Garcia plays on the UIS softball team and interns at Brighton Park Animal Hospital in Chicago. Asked what she most likes about UIS, she said, “I love the close-knit community as it has allowed me to foster lifelong friendships.” Following graduation from UIS, she plans to attend veterinary school.
