The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team split a doubleheader against Rockhurst on Saturday in Kansas City. The #17 Prairie Stars move to 11-5 on the season, while the Hawks go to 9-5.
GAME ONE (L, 4-10)

Mark Kattula hit a home run in the fifth to cut the lead to three

Rockhurst scored four runs in the sixth behind a 2-RBI double and back-to-back walks

Brant Vanaman tripled to right center in the seventh to score a run, but it was too little too late

Adam Lindsey (0-2) earned the loss in 4.0 IP, 6 ER, and 7 strikeouts
GAME TWO (W, 16-2)

UIS took a lead in the first inning with two RBI singles from Brant Vanaman and TJ Yakimisky

TJ Yakimisky ripped a triple in the second to bring in three runs and give the Stars a 5-0 lead

Yakimisky then scored and Drew Ezard reached on a fielding error

Rockhurst loaded the bases in the third, but only brought in one run off a walk

UIS opened up a huge gap in the fourth as they plated six runs

Ivan Dahlberg began it with an RBI single

Ty Hollandsworth walked to bring in another run

RU's pitcher then balked to make it 9-1 UIS

Jackson Blemler hit a 2-RBI single

Brant Vanaman brought another run home with an RBI single

Rockhurst hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to make it 12-2 UIS
