The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team fell in the series finale on Sunday afternoon to Rockhurst to split the series. The No. 17 Prairie Stars drop to 11-6 on the season, with a 2-2 record in GLVC play. Rockhurst improves to 10-5 and also holds a 2-2 conference record. 

Game Summary

  • Rockhurst took a 2-0 lead in the first inning by scoring from a wild pitch and then a sacrifice fly

  • TJ Yakimisky hit an RBI single in the third to cut the lead to one

  • RU opened up a lead in the bottom of the third to make it 5-1

  • The Hawks hit a home run, an RBI triple, and then an RBI single

  • UIS came all the way back in the fourth to tie the game at 5

  • Nate Buchan reached on a fielder's choice, driving in a run 

  • Jacyk Uehling doubled down the right field line to bring in two runs

  • Brant Vanaman then hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game

  • Rockhurst took the lead back in fifth through two RBI singles, and added another on a fielding error

  • Jackson Blemler hit an RBI single in the sixth to cut the RU lead to 8-6

  • Rockhurst took a huge lead in the bottom of the seventh with an eight-run inning

  • RU was able to win the game 16-6 after the seventh inning

  • Clark Morgan earned the loss in 1.1 innings pitched
