Sara Garrett attended the University of Oregon and taught strings in Eugene, Oregon, Longview, Washington, Bozeman, Montana, Normal, Illinois and Bloomington, Illinois. She retired as the orchestra director at Bloomington Junior High in 2016. Since that time, she has worked part-time with Normal Public Schools and the Illinois State University String Project. She has also served as a supervisor for student teachers in the school of music at ISU. She teaches privately at home and has enjoyed her recent Suzuki training classes. 

Sara has played cello in the Eugene Symphony Orchestra, The Oregon Bach Festical Orchestra, the Southwest Washington Symphone Orechestra, the Bozeman Symphone Orchestra, Ann Arbor Symphony, Ann Arbor Chamber Orchestra, Flint Symphony, Illinois Symphony and Peoria Symphony. She is looking forward to a new adventure with the String Academy!
