Graduate Education
Welcome to Graduate Education at UIS
We are pleased that you have chosen to explore our graduate degree and certificate programs. More than 40% of UIS students are engaged in graduate study, and most were attracted to UIS by an impressive combination of factors that include educational quality, value and campus location and setting.
UIS Associate Professor of Communication Kathy Novak, Ph.D., was only a few weeks into her COM 407 Photojournalism and Photo Documentary Class when Illinois began to shelter in place and UIS students returned home to begin remote learning.
Until the COVID-19 pandemic shut the doors to on-campus learning, Associate Professor of Ceramics Shane Harris had never taught an online class.
His ceramics and 3D art classes are hands-on and require studio space and materials.
When she couldn’t meet students face-to-face, UIS Associate Director of Student Life Marie Watson stepped out of her comfort zone and into the social media spotlight.
Ben Paoletti came to UIS with an interest in civic engagement. He is a resident assistant for the Leadership for Life Service Program in Lincoln Residence Hall. Ben has also become the vice president of the Alternative Spring Break student organization. In March, he traveled to Houston, Texas with a group of 21 UIS students as part of Alternative Spring Break to clean up Hurricane Harvey damage. Along with Alternative Spring Break, he is an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
