The UIS women's track and field team will compete in the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Championships this week, hosted by Lewis in Romeoville, Ill. The three-day event will take place Thursday through Saturday, May 1–3.
Entries
UIS will be represented in a variety of distance and middle-distance events throughout the meet, beginning with the 1,500-meter preliminaries on Thursday. A mix of returners and fresh faces will take the track in Lillian Buzani, Marissa Roggensack, and Josslyn Gaona.
The first medal event of the championship for UIS will be the 10,000-meter final, also on Thursday evening. Kaleigh Inniss, Jordan Serrahn, and Allison Thompson are entered in the event. Based on regular season performances, Inniss and Serrahn rank sixth and seventh in the GLVC, respectively, while Thompson holds the 12th-fastest time.
Friday's action includes the 800-meter preliminaries, where Kali Gaden and Camille Terre will represent the Prairie Stars. Later that evening, Norah Wright will compete in the final of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Saturday will feature a full slate of finals, including the 800-meter, 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter races. Buzani, Gaona, Inniss, Madelyn Miller, Roggensack, Serrahn and Emma Leahy are all entered in the final of the 5,000 meters.
Inniss and Miller were both All-GLVC performers during the indoor season and will look to earn all-conference honors outdoors. Miller owns the second-best time in the conference this season in the 5,000 meters—a school-record and NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 16:27.78. Inniss ranks 11th with a time of 17:33.08.
