The University of Illinois Springfield softball team travels to Melbourne, Fla. to feature in the Space Coast Spring Games from March 8-13. The Prairie Stars will play 10 games over the 6 day period in Florida. 

UIS (9-7)

The Prairie Stars hosted their first home games of the season last weekend at the Springfield Invitational. UIS played doubleheaders against Parkside on Friday and Hillsdale on Saturday, where they lost all four contests. The Stars dropped games to Parkside 4-12 and 6-8 while losing to Hillsdale 6-7 and 0-10. 

Ferris State (9-10)

The Bulldogs are currently at the Space Coast Spring Games, going 5-1 so far. Ferris State is 1-2 against GLVC opponents this year, with all coming at the Blue Bridge Battle in Evansville, Indiana. Ferris State beat Missouri S&T 8-7, but lost to Indianapolis 2-6 and UMSL 11-13 (9 inn.).

Cedarville (2-13)

The Yellow Jackets have also begun their time at the Space Coast Spring Games, currently with an 0-2 record. This will be the third time that UIS will face Cedarville this spring, with the Prairie Stars winning both previous meetings by scores of 7-5 and 8-3. 

Walsh (3-9)

The Cavaliers also currently are in Florida competing at the Space Coast Spring Games, going 2-4 so far. Walsh has gone 1-2 against GLVC opponents this season, coming at the Blue Bridge Battle in Evansville, Indiana. The Cavaliers beat Missouri S&T 11-10, but fell to Quincy 3-6 and Drury 4-15. 

Nova Southeastern (12-5)

The Sharks have started the 2024 season extremely well, showcased by beating the 6th ranked team, East Stroudsburg, twice. Nova Southeastern is currently ranked 19th in the country, but dropped three straight to Rollins last weekend. 

Mercy (0-0)

The Mavericks haven't started their 2024 campaign yet, but will get underway on Thursday afternoon at the Space Coast Spring Games. Samantha Franck and Shannon Sisco return to the Mavericks a year after being named First Team All-ECC. 

Felician (3-5)

The Golden Falcons began their season back on February 2 at the UNCP Invitational, where they went 1-6. After a month break, Felician returned to action last weekend at the Chowan Classic, where they went 2-0 before their next two contests were canceled. The Golden Falcons have four more games scheduled before they start their week at the Space Coast Spring Games.  

West Chester (4-3)

The Golden Rams come into Florida on a four-game win streak, after starting the season 0-3. West Chester returns all six of their all-league selections a year after making the NCAA Tournament as a 5th seed.
