The UIS softball team fell 5-3 in the first game of a doubleheader against the Upper Iowa Peacocks before winning 5-2 in game two. UIS is now 19-13 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
GAME ONE (L, 5-3)
- The Prairie Stars hit first as the Peacocks were originally set to be the home team in the doubleheader that was moved to Springfield due to weather in Fayette, Iowa.
- Much of the action occurred in the later innings as UIU got to scoring in the fourth with a triple and a single
- It'd be a 3-0 game after a UIU unearned run in the fifth inning
- The final UIU runs of the game came in the sixth on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single
- UIS began to rally in the seventh with a much needed 2 RBI double by Isabella Wilson that scored Ella Brinkley and Rosie Bartletti
- One more run came through when Ramsey Armstrong singled, but the Prairie Stars would not pull off the comeback
- Rosie Bartletti fell to 6-3 with the loss
GAME TWO (W, 5-2)
- The Peacocks would score first once again with a first-inning RBI single. An unearned run came through on a passed ball for UIU to lead 2-0
- UIS got to scoring in the fourth when Jacy Watts grounded out for Addyson McClure to come home
- Taylor Zawacki and Katy Beagle would then score on an error by the UIU pitcher
- Ramsey Armstrong added a 2 RBI single in the fifth to plate two more runs
- Addyson McClure went the final four innings to get the win
