The UIS Softball team lost both games of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon against Truman State in Kirksville, Mo. The Prairie Stars fall to 19-15 on the season with a 3-5 mark in GLVC play. The Bulldogs improve to 13-15 with a 5-1 conference record. 

GAME ONE (L, 2-4)

  • TSU took a lead in the first inning with an RBI double

  • UIS tied the contest in the second on a Jaden Watts bunt which scored Sophie Margelot

  • Truman hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second to retake the lead

  • The Bulldogs added another run in the fourth with an RBI double

  • The Stars began to make a comeback in the seventh as Isabella Wilson doubled to left center to bring in a run

  • UIS had runners on second and third with one out, but failed to push any more runs across

  • Rosie Bartletti (6-4) pitched all six innings in the loss with all four runs being earned

GAME TWO (L, 2-7)

  • Truman once again took a lead in the first inning with an RBI single

  • TSU scored three unearned runs in the second with two singles to make it 4-0

  • The Bulldogs hit a home run in the fourth to increase their lead

  • TSU scored another in the fourth on a sacrifice fly

  • Truman added one more run in the sixth with an RBI double

  • UIS was able to finally get on the scoreboard in the seventh as Ella Brinkley singled in a run

  • Taylor Zawacki grounded into a fielder's choice to bring home another run

  • Alexis Carroll (6-4) took the loss in the circle while giving up three earned runs

The Prairie Stars travel to Quincy next Saturday to take on the Hawks in their only action over Easter weekend.
