Alex Seibal of UIS men's golf was named the GLVC Player of the Week after earning his first collegiate victory over a field of 85 golfers at the Lindenwood Invitational. It is the first weekly award of his career and the first for a UIS men's golf athlete since Sebastian Trujillo in 2020.
The sophomore carded scores of 69-69-67 for a total score of 205 (-8). His 2.80 scoring on par 3s was the best at the tournament. He was second overall on par 4's, averaging 4.00.
Seibal started the tournament with consistency and closed with a four-under 67 in the final round to seal the win. He is ranked No. 161 as an individual in NCAA DII and No. 20 in the Midwest Region on the latest Clippd Scoreboard.
The Prairie Stars finished eighth as a team at the tournament, which featured opponents from a variety of leagues and divisions.
Seibal and the Prairie Stars will travel farther this weekend, taking on the SVSU Spring Invitational in Lexington, Ky. on Saturday and Sunday.
