The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team were big winners on Friday afternoon in Game One of the weekend series against McKendree. The Prairie Stars improve to 13-9 overall with a 4-5 record in GLVC play. The Bearcats drop to 7-15 with a 1-8 conference record.

  • Mark Kattula reached on an error, which would bring in a run

  • Mack Clark singled to right field, making it 10-0 in the first inning

  • UIS added to their lead in the third inning as Mack Clark grounded out and brought in a run

  • Jacyk Uehling singled in the fourth inning to make it 12-0 and round out the scoring

  • Gavin Wahlbrink (4-1) pitched all 7 innings while only allowing 4 hits and recording 10 strikeouts in the team's first shutout of the season
