The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team took the first game of the three-game series with Trevecca Nazarene on Friday afternoon at the UIS Baseball Field. No.20-ramked UIS improves to 7-4 on the year while TNU drops to 6-4 on the season. 

Game Summary

  • TNU started the game off with two singles before grounding into a double play

  • The Trojans took the lead on a passed ball in the top of the first

  • UIS responded instantly by loading the bases in the bottom of the first

  • Ivan Dahlberg walked, bringing in a run to make it 1-1

  • Johnny Wendling's two-out single brought in two more runs to give the Stars a 3-1 lead

  • UIS pushed another run across in the bottom of the second inning as Mark Kattula brought the runner across on a groundout

  • Jacyk Uehling extended the UIS lead to 5-1 with a solo home run in the fourth

  • TNU hit a homer of their own in the fifth to make it a 5-2 game

  • Trevecca made it a one-run game with a two-RBI single in the sixth

  • The Stars responded in the seventh as Ivan Dahlberg cranked a homerun to make it 6-4 in favor of UIS

  • UIS added some insurance runs in the eighth as TJ Yakimisky hit a two-RBI triple, and was driven in on Mack Clark sacrifice fly to make it 9-4 Prairie Stars 

  • A 1-2-3 inning from Adam Wibbenmeyer closed out the contest for the Stars
