UIS Athletics, in partnership with Jimmy John's at 219 S 6th St. in Springfield, has announced that the UIS women's tennis team is the inaugural Jimmy John's Academic Team of the Year.

UIS women's tennis posted the best cumulative grade point average of all athletic teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in 2023-24. They were also an Academic All-GLVC Team as each individual on the roster was an Academic All-GLVC honoree.

The roster produced two GLVC Council of Presidents' Academic Excellence Award winners, two GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholars, and four CSC Academic All-District athletes. The team awaits the outcome of the outcome of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Academic Awards.
